Simulation 03:03
is this a simulation or am i alone? traveling here in a body that isn't my own watching the plants grow up through pavement cracks i notice i've escaped, and you can't put me back is this a simulation or did i survive? swimming through the mist that exists in my mind torn apart from the start but i just feel alive snow in my face and it blows away all the lies is this a simulation or did i succeed? no more places to hide or warnings to heed steel reflecting the sun i'm not one to forget loneliness impending but it hasn't found me yet is this a simulation or am i going home? train lines are veins in my body i'm not in the zone metal poured to support the beats of my heart part of the sliced up land i'm a cyborg woman, a work of art

Earth Side 04:06
black water outside above the sunrise blue sea earth side in her green eyes wait there for a minute 'till you realize this one could be your last sunrise they called from the shore of the ocean cold water against your skin looked out at the blue horizon stark line where the sky begins her voice got smaller and smaller as the current pulled you in death fight with a hungry monster you wouldn't let the ocean win she watched from a beach towel blanket melted popsicle in her hand you left with breath in your lungs and left footprints in the burning sand black water outside above the sunrise blue sea at the edge of the cold sky look out and tell yourself the old lies tell yourself that this won't make you cry they called from a concrete city calm, collected like they know they should be you look at a picture beside you textured sand, the expanse of the sea heard static tear through your helmet you shout to the vacuum and its vacancy there's no one left but you so why can't the sky just leave you be you swam out farther than you've been before you don't feel scared anymore just sore from the struggle and the wonder that reckless human need to explore two years, tears shed for red sand wonder how it'll feel when the ship lands hold on, this isn't what we planned understand, i meant it to work my fears are calmed by a cold hand calculate the distance, wait for an impact milliseconds measure the time it takes to act too slow, hope you understand you left with breath in your lungs outside above the sun you left with breath in your lungs outside above the sun

i like the sunset as we walk back burning sky, the atmosphere is different tonight i watch the clouds fade from orange to gray a shadow cast on the part of the world where we are right now angles traced in the sidewalk as we go home aaaaaahhhh watch us while we're out it's dark we do stupid things, sometimes, at night we walk as the edge of the cloud blurred jersey sky filters through the chain link fence above the empty, closed down, town pool residual forest background behind the blue of the sky with its gentle light is impatient for something to happen the west is sketched in burning charcoal like spray paint in mid park lane aaaaaahhhh watch us while you're out it's dark we'll miss that summer light aaaaaahhhh watch us while we're out it's dark we do stupid things, sometimes, at night

i feel so empty here in a brown grass wasteland, surrounded by sky buildings out of place at the foot of the hill softly reflect the light a tired cyberpunk city, weathered but still looking new pastel colored buildings, and glass in shades of gray and blue this place wasn't meant for people it was meant for hills it was meant for ghosts the clouds consume the bridges and drift along the coast i follow the city streets on the skateboard i brought from home some people are out but the town feels empty in the morning, i'm alone i glide down the hill, towards the bay in the distance, restless and free past the people who sleep on the streets, and through the shade of the trees this place wasn't meant for people it was meant for hills it was meant for ghosts the clouds consume the bridges and drift along the coast you can only stay until you almost feel at home so i was only here for a day the new paved sidewalk below my skateboard couldn't have felt more far away soft, chilling winds blow across the pier to announce the bay's hostility crumbling concrete holds back the waves to keep this place from drowning in the sea

Astronaut 03:57
i can't feel the ground as the houses drift by i can't hear the voices through the glass but i still try the streetlights reflect on my windows, i move slow rely on the engine's fiery glow the atmosphere burns, but i'm more concerned with the towns and the playgrounds behind i'd prefer to be here with my radio on i'd prefer to be here and stay 'till the colors are gone i'm an astronaut in a sky of red stars check the map, tell me where we are check the mirrors, let my fears drift away watch the distant hills of the garden state our language is prettier typed in an easy to read font the words will remain on an old, dusty server long after the roads are gone out past the sun, past the warm, familiar light the signals we broadcast are faster than starships and carry the songs we write i'd prefer to be here with the dying crimson stars i'd prefer to be here and watch the supernova from my car i'm a human in a metal avatar look around, tell me who we are we built everything of which we could conceive why do we always wanna leave? i'm an astronaut in a sky of red stars check the map, tell me where we are check the mirrors, let my fears drift away watch the distant hills of the garden state i'm an astronaut in a sky of red stars check the map, tell me where we are check the mirrors, let my fears drift away watch the distant hills of the garden state

about

This EP is about the garden state parkway, the cyborg meadowlands, an autumn sunset over the streets of Montclair, and a dying space traveller's visions of the Jersey shore.
